Agenda: English classes for Sarkari Hiraya Patashale
Members from Muktha Foundation: Sushil, Priya, Murli, Ruchi
Members from Pankhudi: Mohan, Manu & Vivek
Venue: Krishna Rao Park, Basavanagudi
Time: 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Points discussed:
- First class for 7th std kids to be started by Vivek, Mohan & Priya on Oct 7th
- Collect results for previous year & 1st semester’s English paper – This will help us gauge their competency in this subject & indicate the focus areas.
- Check with the Headmistress, Ms.Yashodamma by Oct 3rd or 4th to know what was done in English & convey the same to both Pankhudi & Muktha members
- Parallel discussion with the headmistress about the drastic ratio of teachers & students (4-5 teachers for 180 kids). Try to find the root cause of this problem.
- Gauge the knowledge Level of English in current teachers & explore the opportunity if the teachers are ready to be taught.
- Seek permission for extra time after school hours for evaluation. Very important as this will help us build a road map for the upcoming classes.
- The school wants us to take the 10:15 am to 11:15 am slot which is followed by mid day meal. We’ll try for a early period when the kids will be more attentive & receptive.
- Accessing 5th & 6th std kids on the same.
- A common activity sheet shall be maintained religiously by all volunteers for continuity. After that week’s class, volunteers will have to enter all details like, lesson covered, exercise, overall feedback, suggestions etc
- Total of 6 text books & 2 guides for 6 volunteers (3 each from Pankhudi & Muktha) has been bought which will be delivered to everyone latest by Sep 27th.
